I ended up having to take the AC back out of the window to install the support brackets because there simply isnt enough clearance in the window. not the worst inconvenience but the heavy unit makes it harder to do those motions repeatedly when not noted in advance to placing it in the window.

Which foam is the bracket sealing foam?

I hope can get one for my room i live in dubai there is no shipping to my country, even there is no resellers also in my country, so i hope can get one

How do I install the bracket if my window has a roof underneath?

Has anyone had an issue with it not cooling after a month or so?

Probably a good AC. Last year it took me a few months to install it. By the time I finished, Summer was over. Now I'm reinstalling it this Summer. Hopefully can get it up by Winter. Wish me luck.

The midea u is my first-ever window air conditioner unit. This video was a life ever! Just left it on loop while i was installing, and didn't really ever have to refer to the paper manual (which i almost always read)!

I want to install this unit in a dormer window and the roofline continues under the window so the angled support arms will rest on the roof instead of the wall. However, a lip on the angled support arms limits the tilt of the rubber feet so they cannot rest flat on the sloped roof. Is it okay to cut off part of the lip so the feet can tilt to the roof slope?

can this be on a horizontal window?

This install was quite painful but I do appreciate the many, many extra steps to ensure safety and an obnoxious degree of stability. Will buy one again but man, it took a lot of effort.

In ac mode. My unit has a damp smell coming from it. Does anyone else experience this? I'm wondeting if i need to hook up the drain hose?

I installed one of these today. Super happy with the unit. Very quiet and cools quickly. As others noted, this instruction video is good as a general guide but does not apply to 2024 models, nor do the enclosed instructions. Some degree of ingenuity is needed. I prefer the redundant safety features. Quells my fear of the unit falling out the window.

The clearance below my window is less than 6 inches before it hits the roof of my porch. Can the arms on the bracket support that angle? If so, how? We cannot position the bracket so that it slopes slightly downwards toward the outside. If not, what do you suggest?

Holy balls this was a TERRIBLE instructional video. Too slow when it didn't matter, and all the crucial parts were either ambiguous, sped through, or not even explained at all! Took me over an hour to get through 7min of instructions. 😒

I have sliding windows. Although its not meant fir it. I use insulation foam sheet and added extra security supporters to ensure its safe. Id be nice if you made u shaped ones for sliding windows too. Great idea and its great still the way im using it for this summer.

Unfortunately, after reading some of the comments here, it’s clear after watching this video that everyone that’s complaining doesn’t have any “DYI” skills. 😂 I’m using mine in an RV that has very very difficult windows to work with. It has Rounded edges/corners. I was able to square the edges without damaging them and use the provided window kit. Installing this portable air conditioner isn’t rocket science. This is a basic “how to install” video. If you people researched how to install portable air conditioners you would understand this video & the directions clearly.

If I accidentally damage the window kit (during unpacking or during installing), &/or damage the exhaust hose before or after warranty “IS THERE A WAY/PLACE TO GET A HOLD OF REPLACEMENT PARTS? PLEASE SAY “YES” and provide a link or a phone number. Thank you if you reply

My installation was more difficult because of being on the second floor and having a left/right tall sliding window. As other reviewers have said, some things are missing from the video and User Manual. The manual says "MShield Used to starts and stops the Fresh feature." What does MShield mean, what is the Fresh feature? Luckily, from other reviewers I learned that the smooth side of Window Sliders Panels face the inside. Before permanently adhering the slider insulation foam to the sliders, trace the outline of the dual hose opening and cut the foam out. I could not figure out how to attach the Window Kit Brace so, as I saw in some reviewers UA-cam videos, I didn't use it. Maybe my double pane window is too thin for the Brace to work? A clear photo or video of how the Brace is supposed to work would really help. There are at least 9 openings in the Sliding Window Adapter that flies and spiders, and winter cold, summer heat can come through. Each of the 8 plastic clips are wide open to the outside. All these leaks will need to be sealed up somehow. There was not enough Foam Seal C for my tall windows. Then there's the problem of how to prevent birds and other animals from nesting in the heat/cool hoses! Why in the world is there no grill or mesh over these huge openings? After a few frustrating hours the unit is now working very well. Fix everything tomorrow.

Manual says 13.75” minimum height. My window is only 13”. Would it be an issue? I’m thinking the minimum height requirement is for when sliding in the unit. My thought process is tilt the unit at an angle to slide it in to the window opening. Probably from the outside as the outside portion is a much larger piece than the inside portion

I will never buy another one. Was hot last night and the AC always starts out working fine, then loses it stops cooling the room.

Generally don't comment, but @mideaamerica should make a new video. This is unhelpful with little detail that leaves me more confused.

On my second unit. I’m am extremely unimpressed. Don’t get me wrong, it is a beautiful unit and looks great with my windows, however, it does not cool my room enough. I installed this unit in my living room and it does not seem to do a very good job cooling it. It was so bad, there were days when I had to turn on a fan just to stop sweating and I sit about 3 to 4 feet away from the air conditioner. It was so bad, I thought the one I received was defective so I asked for a replacement. To put things in perspective, yesterday in New York, it was a high of 92° so I kept my air conditioner on all day. I left around 4pm and came back around 8pm. Although the living room felt a little bit cooler, it should’ve been far more colder considering that the air conditioner was on for over 10 hours. I had high hopes because it is a 12,000 BTU unit, however, my 8000 BTU Frigidaire seems to do a better job of cooling my living room when it’s not in the living room. I read somewhere, that the AC is supposed to get stronger, the hotter it is outside. That has not been my experience. I wish it gave an option of full power. I get that they want it to be quiet, but I would definitely prefer more noise for a cold room. Might be good for a small bedroom but definitely not 550 ft.².

You should not install this unit if the exterior supports will rest on vinyl siding. The vinyl siding will deform and eventually crack.

The left anti-tip arm is not coming out. No problem with the right but the left will not move past where the screw was. And yes we did remove the screw

Dear Midea! Please finally do the extendable support arms! Here in America is a lot of windows with deeper window sills so for a correct installation you would need to put a 2x4 under the support arms.

I bought this unit. On the 12000 b.t.u. unit the support bracket sticks out past the back of the unit on the outside about six inches and there is no way to make an adjustment so it is closer to the back of the unit and looks normal. I call Midea support and the first person I spoke to hung up on me and the second support person trued to convince me that this is normal and all Midea u shaped units use the same bracket. Simple solution, take king the unit back to Home Depot and never ever buying a Midea product again, lol.

Mine wouldn’t cool right out of the box. Got PC 04 and EC 07 codes and had bad shaking and rumbling. It turned out that a piece of insulation on the copper tubing near the rear fan was blocking the fan. Opened up the top of the back of the unit and mashed the black sticky insulation against the tubing to clear the fan and it works perfect. Obviously they don’t test run these things before shipping them out.
